8 Sleep Tips Successful Australian Women Swear By

To have a successful business in this day and age, it often means your waking hours are tightly scheduled. Between rushing from meeting to meeting, answering calls and texts, and responding to a never-ending inbox of emails, finding time for planning and creativity can be toughlet alone sleep.

But, as it turns out, sleep is one of the most important things when it comes to your work performance. Being well-rested and recharged for the day ahead means you can make decisions with a level head and be more present with colleagues and clients.

While achieving a good night's rest is easier said than done, all it takes is a few simple changes to transform your routine.

We asked eight successful Australian businesswomen how they manage to get their eight hours each night, and we learnt a lot from their answers. Keep reading to be inspired by the sleep habits of our favourite influencers.

Carissa Walford: Switch off your tech

"Having a solid nighttime routine is important to me. I leave my phone outside of my bedroom at night and I don't check it first thing in the morning. Reading before bed and switching off from all technology means your body can wind down properly."

Eleanor Pendleton: Invest in wellness products

"I’m one of those people that needs 8 hours—I function better in the morning rather than staying up at night so I will always ensure I’m in bed to get my eight hours. It’s my me time. Without it, I can’t function sharply the next day. Doterra lavender oil, This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and a cup of The Beauty Chef Inner Beauty Powder before bed [help me sleep]."

Kerrie-Ann Jones: Prioritise an early bedtime

"I value sleep, enormously! As my children are young I've had a few years of very disruptive sleep, as I've often been up various times throughout the night settling them... As a result of that, I go to bed quite early so I can feel rested and get the most out of the following day."

Alexandria Park: Style your space for relaxation

"I try not to take work and stress into [the bedroom]. It’s important to me that I use the space to recharge and reflect. I love our rattan bedhead because it reminds me of being on vacation and that provides a great sense of escapism whilst relaxing in bed."

Alison Rice: Slow down your mornings with meditation

"Eight hours of deep sleep is ideal for me but if I don’t get it, the 20 minutes of meditation I do in the morning makes up for any hours lost. And then I’ve found it is best for my body to rise slow from there. Eight years of hard and sharp starts at 6am really took its toll."

Dina Broadhurst: Quality bedding and magnesium oil

"A comfy King-sized bed and linen sheets are everything as there is nothing better than a good night’s sleep. I also use magnesium oil spray on my belly before I sleep. It makes all the difference, and lulls me into a deep, uninterrupted sleep."

Dani Dean: Keep your space tidy

"Our bedroom is a place I try to keep quite styled—I love having a well-made bed. It’s my ritual to make it daily, much to the confusion of James as he reasons it will only get messed up...again."

Lillian Khallouf: Try a hot shower at night

"Nothing means more to me than sleep time. It’s the only time you see me still. I lead such a busy and full lifestyle. So as soon as I hit the pillow I’m out until I’m up again at 5am! Nothing beats a hot shower before bed."
