New room, new you.
6 Reasons You Should Rearrange Your Bedroom This Weekend
New room, new you.
Many of us would love to be able to update and decorate our homes with fresh furniture and décor whenever we like. It’s exciting to have a new look in our homes, but unfortunately, this isn’t a very financially or environmentally friendly way of living. One of the best alternatives to this is to rearrange our spaces with the furniture and décor we already have. Designing a new space provides an opportunity to get creative and see things from a new point of view, and you can do this simply by switching up a room’s layout.
If you have even a little bit of creativity in you, there’s a strong chance you rearranged your bedroom as a child and proudly showed your parents the result. This fun activity doesn’t need to be reserved for bored children or home makeover TV shows, it’s something simple you can do this weekend.
Perhaps you’re feeling uninspired by your current bedroom aesthetic, you feel like you could get better use out of the space, you're looking for a change in your life, or you want to freshen it up for a new season. Whatever the reason, there are plenty of benefits to sprucing up the arrangement of your sleep sanctuary from incentivising you to declutter to giving you a fresh perspective.
1. It incentivises you to de-clutter and donate
The first step when re-arranging your bedroom is to remove all of the things you've been collecting over the years that you don't actually use. Clutter does little to help us keep a clear mind and a messy room can subconsciously leave you feeling sluggish, stressed, and anxious. Clearing out everything that no longer brings you joy will also make more space to work with when you begin the rearranging process. Donate anything that is in decent condition and that could be useful to someone else.
2. It's a free makeover
Revamping a room can be a costly affair. But when you're repurposing what you already have and switching up the layout, all it will cost you is a little bit of elbow grease.
3. It allows you to get creative
It's no secret that creativity opens the mind and allows us to express ourselves. Rearranging furniture can change the entire look and feel of your room and allow you to tap into your creative self. Devising with a new layout can be challenging, which makes it that much more satisfying and a great distraction from whatever else might be going on in your life. Don't be afraid to move things around and see what it does to your space and experiment with positioning items in various ways until you're happy with the aesthetic.
4. It gives you a new perspective
Starting from scratch with your bedroom's layout can inspire you to see the potential the space has that you may have forgotten about. It can also help your life feel less stagnant. You could move the position of your bed so that it has a new outlook out of your window, switch up the position of any wall art you have, swap one of the plants in your bedroom with something from another room in your home, or move a mirror to another spot.
5. It can make you happier
If your life is feeling a bit stagnant, you've been through a break-up, or you relish the opportunity to tap into your creative mind, switching up your bedroom scheme can make you just that little bit happier. It might be from the act of taking on a project that makes you feel accomplished or the novelty of waking up in what feels like a new space. Either way, sometimes it can just be good for our mental health to have a bit of change in our lives, even if it's something small.
6. It offers a chance to do a deep clean
If you've not moved furniture around in months or years there's a good chance there are so sneaky spots that are in desperate need of cleaning. Dust can collect behind artworks, mirrors, or under your bed frame and these are spots we tend to neglect when we're doing our average cleaning session. Repositioning furniture that has been in one place for lengthy periods of time means you get to clean under and behind it.
