10 Best Shows Like 'Younger' to Binge-Watch Immediately

If you loved Bridgerton, Emily in Paris or Sex and the City, then you most likely binge-watched your way through the seven seasons of Younger.

It has been everyone's favourite guilty pleasure as we've been wrapped up in the drama of Liza, the publishing executive, who fakes her age in order to get back in the business, all while falling for the charms of two very different (and handsome) men.

With the series recently ending after the season seven finale, we're sure you're looking to fill that Younger void in your life. Here are 10 of the best shows that are equally as good as the hit rom-com series.

10 Best Shows Like 'Younger' to Binge-Watch

1. The Bold Type

Inspired by the life of former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, The Bold Type is set at the NYC offices of the fictional "Scarlet" magazine. Jane, Kat and Sutton are three best friends working at the mag, navigating their careers and love lives in the big apple. It's a well-worn formula, done well, which is why it's consistently received positive reviews since it debuted in 2017.

There are five seasons to binge-watch, which will (hopefully) keep you nice an occupied for a few days.

2. The Queen’s Gambit

If quality over quantity is what you’re looking for, The Queen’s Gambit has to take top spot. The seven-episode series became Netflix’s most-watched limited show of all time - and attracted 62 million account viewers during its first month.

This miniseries is based on a 1983 Water Tevis novel of the same name and stars the highly watchable Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), who plays Beth Harmon, a young chess player determined to become the greatest in the world. Beth is an orphan and a prodigy, and struggles with drugs and alcohol during her adolescence. Sure, a show about an orphaned girl rising to fame through playing chess doesn’t sound appealing at all, but be warned: prepare for unexpected greatness.

3. Girls

If you watched Younger and loved the dynamic between Liza, Kelsey and Maggie, you will definitely enjoy Girls. While it's gotten plenty of flack over the years, namely for its lack of diversity, there's plenty to enjoy in this seminal HBO series.

Created by Lena Dunham and partly inspired by her own life, the show follows four young women navigating life in Brooklyn, New York. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll identify which Girl you are, and you'll probably grow to love to hate and hate to love Hannah and her millennial co-horts.

4. Love Life

If you're looking for more female-struggles-through-life-in-the-big-city content, Love Life is for you. The first season of this lighthearted anthology series debuted in 2020, with Anna Kendrick playing lead character Darby, a woman in her twenties who has always struggled to maintain meaningful romantic relationships.

If you're looking for an easy breezy watch, definitely add this one to your list. Each episode covers a different relationship between Darby and her potential significant others.

5. Hart of Dixie

The OC's Rachel Bilson stars in this wholesome fish-out-of-water comedy-drama series. She plays a heart surgeon from New York City who inherits an Alabama medical practice from a father she never knew (her mother had an affair while engaged to the man she always knew as her dad).

Her big-city persona finds itself at odds with the genteel southerners in the small town of Bluebell, and of course she encounters new friends and potential love matches along the way. Like Younger, it's simple and full of clichés, but with its warm and cosy visuals, there's a whole lot to love.

6. Bridgerton

Would this list be complete without this hit Netflix series? You’ve probably heard countless things about how addictive this series is - plus, it's filled with even more drama and romance than Younger - so we’d recommend you watch it ASAP.

After that, you can brush up on your Bridgerton knowledge with the interesting facts about the series no one ever knew about, plus, everything you need to know about the new Bridgerton spin-off series, which is currently in the works.

7. Mare of Easttown

It's definitely not set in New York City, the lead character don't wear designer, there are no high-rise apartments and office buildings, but what this thriller series does have in common is a strong female character you'll fall in love with.

The seven-episode series follows detective Mare Sheehan (hello, Kate Winslet) in a small Pennsylvania town where she investigates a local murder while her life crumbles around her. It explores the dark side of a close community that will leave you on the edge of your seat. With a stellar IMDb rating of 8.6/10, this is a must-watch for anyone obsessed with thrillers and female leads.

8. Sex/Life

Sex/Life definitely has Younger's romance qualities down pat - however, it's just a thousand times more romantic... if you get what we mean.

Billie has it all: a gorgeous husband, a sprawling Connecticut mansion, two beautiful children. The only problem is that her gorgeous husband won’t sleep with her, and Billie’s sexual frustration is taking over her life.

This extremely raunchy Netflix series is based on a bestselling and anonymous memoir about a woman in the exact same position. And given the sheer amount of sex scenes in the first episode alone, this series is guaranteed to start conversation.

9. Ginny & Georgia

Think of this Netflix Original series as the Desperate Housewives meets Gilmore Girls meets Younger meets thriller.

The series follows the complicated dynamic between 30-something-year-old single mum Georgia (played by Brianne Howey) and her teenage daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry) as they move to the New England town of Wellsbury for a fresh start. However, Georgia's dark past and secrets quickly begin to unravel, putting relationships to the test. The series has also been renewed for a Season 2, so all the more reason to binge-watch the first season now.

10. Emily in Paris

This series polarised viewers worldwide since season one landed on Netflix on October 2. Just like Normal People and Bridgerton, audiences were so obsessed with Emily in Paris that it's now been confirmed season two has commenced filming.

While intended to be a fluffy rom-com, the show did cop a lot of criticism; critics took issue with the show's implausible premise and reliance on cultural stereotypes, and stunning every American-in-Paris cliché that has ever existed. Meanwhile, supporters relished in the show's featherweight tone and complete lack of realism. Either way, it's light-hearted and an easy watch, just like Younger.
