We're Obsessed: Tiled Tables Are Here to Brighten Up Your Home

Tiled tables are suddenly everywhere and we are straight-up obsessed. Coffee tables, credenza tables, solid cubes and desks—tables of all sortscovered with monochromatic small square tiles, have made their way to the top of our saved folders and our wish lists. With a handful of independent makers crafting beautiful, handmade tiled tables, this is one home décor dream that is very much within reach (unlike, say, the elusive vintage Caprani lamp).

Wesley Sinclair and Philippa Moorfoot are the creative couple behind Australian brand, Fleur Studios, which offers a range of handmade-to-order tiled tables to a growing customer base. "The concept of Fleur Studios is to redefine staple furniture that delights people and pushes boundaries," Philippa says. "We only began earlier this year but it has been a whirlwind year designing our range and seeing the response from our customers. We’ve been completely amazed and humbled to see how people have embraced our furniture."

Design-wise, the pair are endlessly inspired by Italian designer Ettore Sotsass. "Everything he created was so unique and iconic," Philippa says, "and Jean Royere with that incredible polar bear couch!"

"But I also love discovering brands and artists on Instagram, there are so many amazing small designers that are creating the most unique things," she adds.

Yes, tiled tables are officially trending and we could not be more delighted. Why? Aside from the obvious aesthetic benefits, just think about how practical a tiled table actually is. For anyone irritated by the insidious fingerprint marks that come with any glass tabletop, or sick of water stains on your pricey antique teak table, just imagine: tiles. High-impact and practical? Sign us up.

Now, all that's left is to pick what colour tiled table is right for you. Are you drawn to bright white? Bold red? Glossy black? Keep reading to find out more about this unexpected trend taking Instagram by storm while you decide.

Refreshing and uplifting are two words that describe this elegant aqua-tiled cube. One of the best things about bringing bright colours into your home décor is that they work just as well against neutrals as they do with other bright colours.

Melbourne-based floral designer Hattie Molloy debuted her revamped studio earlier this year, featuring a central work bench finished with bright green tiles. It's a zesty hero piece in an already eclectic space, and we're all for it.

We are big fans of LA-based influencer Katie Mack's candy coloured home—even more so now that she has added an Ikon København coffee table to her lavish living room. Where a wooden or glass coffee table might have made the space feel crowded and heavy, this tiled bench-style table somehow synthesises the perfectly busy environment.
