Places and Spaces: This Beachside Yoga Studio Is Basically Our Dream Home
If you're a fan of pure, organic spaces that instantly lull you into a state of calm, then you're going to love Warrior One. Completed last year by award-winning interior design studio Golden, this holistic yoga studio radiates warmth and has provided us with endless amounts of interior inspiration. Nestled in the beachside suburb of Mordialloc in Melbourne, we are dying to join in on the varied range of yoga classes on offer from their crew of passionate teachers. With an overarching holistic approach, Warrior One is the perfect oasis for relaxation and a chance to connect with a like-minded community.
There's something for everyone at this restorative studio, whether you're looking to challenge your body or simply get moving again. While Vinyasa Flow is utilised as the main style of yoga here, there are a number of other classes to explore including Yin Yoga to de-stress your mind and body, and Yoga Tune Up to help ease pain and help improve posture. As well as that, the studio runs a list of workshops to provide you with a heap of ways to get involved and to reap the benefits of these holistic practices. From a ten-hour self-massage teaching to yoga alignment for pregnancy, these classes are guided by Warrior One's talented group of trainers. If you're looking to take it to the next level, it's worth looking into their overseas retreats—think a soul-rejuvenating trip to Ubud for a week of mindfulness and crafting lifelong connections. When it comes to the design of this peaceful bayside haven, Golden has been able to perfectly convey an ocean-inspired, laidback attitude that perfectly complements the studio's offerings. Using Warrior One's holistic focus as a guide, organic forms and tactile textures are favoured to further accentuate the idea of a luxury retreat that lets you forget about the real world for a brief moment. From the second you step inside, an eye-catching, curved custom counter by local stonemason Den Holm really sets the tone for what's to come. Deep walnut joinery neatly houses an array of organic products on offer, while incredible leather and velvet seating options assure you that this is a place of comfort designed to restore your mind and body.
Two yoga studios are divided by beautiful whitewashed bi-fold doors that are reminiscent of the beach shacks this yoga sanctuary shares a postcode with. The clever and stunning addition of fluted glass helps to infuse the spaces with natural light and illuminate the beautiful hardwood ceiling beams that help to add a sense of scale and cosiness. The designers of Warrior One have achieved an almost residential feeling here, with contrasting brass fixtures and lighting that is unexpected and completely appreciated by design lovers such as ourselves. Oh, and we can't forget about the bathrooms. Soft pink marble has been chosen as the hero material with intricate vein details that you could spend hours staring at. Combined with bespoke walnut floating vanity and a gigantic arched mirror, we would be using any excuse to spend more time in this contemporary paradise.
