8 Celebrity Instagram Accounts to Follow for Home Décor Inspiration
There are some celebrities that, no matter how little interest you have in their careers, are able to spark inspiration in an instant with their stylish homes. The beauty of top-tier California real estate boils down to two things: the space and the climate. The abundance of space means huge windows and the desert climate allows for plenty of indoor-outdoor architectural design.
Here are eight celebrities with incredible California homes to follow on Instagram for home décor inspiration.
@emrata
Emily Ratajkowski's Echo Park home is a dream. That velvet wraparound sofa makes a case for colours as neutrals when it comes to furniture—as well as the sudden need for a U-shaped couch (not to mention the space to house it). The warehouse-style home is furnished impeccably: that sofa is accompanied by a salmon-pink marble coffee table and curved floor lamp, plus layered rugs and unique artwork hanging on the walls. The bedroom is a more minimal affair, with an upholstered dove-grey bed frame and brick walls painted white, and all-white linen.

@selenagomez
Selena Gomez moved into a new home earlier in 2020, and it has a storied musical history. Late American singer Tom Petty lived on the block of land with his then-wife, before the house was burnt down by an arsonist in 1987. Tom and Jane then designed and built the house that Selena calls home: a six-bedroom, ten-bathroom mansion with a massage room, a gym, a wine cellar and a recording studio. We love the wallpaper and rich hues here, as well as the white grand piano and vase of fresh flowers—as well as that forest-green stool/side table.

@kimkardashian
Say what you will, Kim Kardashian knows good style when she sees it—as evidenced by her and Kanye's minimalist family home. She and Kanye transformed the suburban McMansion into something quite spectacular, with a home décor style that Kanye apparently calls "futuristic Belgian monastery". The house is stripped back, creating a lofty, airy atmosphere with super high ceilings and arched doorways. The furniture is typical of the design-obsessed couple's taste—an original Jean Royère Polar Bear sofa and Axel Vervoordt limestone cocktail table in the living room. "I sold my Maybach to get the Royère," Kanye told AD. "People told me I was crazy for what I paid for it, but I had to have it." Kim says that she didn't really know anything about furniture before meeting Kanye: "Being with him has been an extraordinary education. I take real pride now in knowing what we have and why it's important."

@mirandakerr
Miranda Kerr and Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel's Malibu cottage is full of colour and light. "I saw so much potential," she told The Hollywood Reporter of the house, which she bought before meeting Evan. "I changed a lot ... The bones are still there, but the interior is very different." She installed a freestanding claw-foot bathtub and top-of-the-line appliances, and added windows and glass doors wherever possible, prioritising light and garden views before anything else.

@hilaryduff
Hilary Duff entered a renaissance period a few years ago after joining the cast of Younger, and since then has shared her vibrant LA home on Instagram. She shares plenty of family snaps but it's her maximalist home interior that really cuts through for us. We love her beige wood and bevelled-edge mirror, and elsewhere there are bold colours, patterns galore and the most incredible wallpaper.

@mariasharapova
If you're into sleek minimalism, you'll be inspired by the home of tennis legend Maria Sharapova. In her home workout videos you can see her incredible, sunny, concrete-walled and impeccably furnished LA home. "I was inspired by Japanese architecture and minimalist aesthetics," she told Architectural Digest when they visited her zen palace. "I didn't grow up with lots of stuff around. For me, uncluttered means healthy. If you don't use something, you don’t need it."

@kourneykardash
Keeping Up with the Kardashians will air its final episode in 2021, ending its 20-season run. One element of the show audiences will surely miss is the regular access into the family's varied array of incredible LA homes. We love Kourt's cosy, monochromatic hideaway—especially the bedroom's stunning oversized rug.
