10 Exciting TV Shows Coming to Our Screens in 2023
From a 'Euphoria'-esque drama starring Lily-Rose Depp to a 'Bridgerton' prequel.
There’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve got a binge-worthy TV series to come home to. Whether it’s a vibrant character you’ve fallen in love with or a gripping storyline told in a beautiful setting, a good TV series is the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
We know 2023 has many good things on the horizon, a plethora of highly-anticipated films are about to be released, new interior design trends are slowly making their way into our homes, and a whole new list of The Makers will be inviting us into their creative spaces.
If you weren’t already excited about what’s to come this year, here are 10 TV shows that we’re counting down the days to watch.
1. Succession, Season Four
Where can I watch it? Binge in March
Our favourite satirical-black-comedy-drama-family-saga television series Succession is back with another 10-episode season. The plutocratic media family the Roys are a truly awful, but that’s what makes them so intriguing to watch on-screen. HBO gave us a first look at what the fourth season of Succession will entail and it’s safe to say things get pretty dramatic.
2. You, Season Four
Where can I watch it? Netflix in February
Is it bad to say we’re looking forward to another dark season of You this year? Penn Badgley is back as the psychotic serial killer Joe, navigating his new life under the identity ‘Professor Moore’. We’ll watch as Joe attempts to make amends with the woman he stalked halfway across the world while trying to avoid becoming the next name on another killer's list.
3. The Idol
Where can I watch it? Binge in 2023
If you’ve been missing that unhinged drama in your life that was Euphoria season 2, we’ve got good news for you. HBO’s new show The Idol comes from the twisted minds of Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and The Weeknd. Starring Lily-Rose Depp and Jennie Kim, the series follows a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol.
4. The Bear, Season 2
Where can I watch it? Disney+ in June
Yes, it’s really happening. Yes, we’re freaking out too. We’ve been patiently waiting to hear about the release date of The Bear Season 2 ever since watching the final episode where Carmy announces the closure of his brother’s sandwich shop. Fans of the fast-paced restaurant drama are in luck because Carmy and the gang are back with a second season later this year.
5. Shrinking
Where can I watch it? AppleTV in June
Fans of Ted Lasso are going to love this one. Shrinking is an upcoming comedy television series created by Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel. The series follows a grieving therapist who begins to tell his clients what he really thinks – the result? An endearing drama that will have you laughing and crying at the same time.
6. Party Down Season Three
Where can I watch it? Stan in February
Now this one’s been a long time coming. Before the cast of Party Down became the well-known television and movie actors we love today – they were all a part of the dysfunctional team of Los Angeles cater-waiters donning pink satin bow ties. Season 3 of Party Down is picking up 10 years after the series’ last episode and we are oh so excited to watch it.
7. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Where can I watch it? Netflix in May
With the success following the record-breaking Netflix show Bridgerton’s second season, our favourite beguiling monarch Queen Charlotte is all set to star in her very own series coming out this year. The limited series will go back in time, showing us how Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz became one of England’s most unforgettable monarchs.
8. Daisy Jones & The Six
Where can I watch it? Amazon Prime in March
Fan of the New York Times Bestseller Daisy Jones & The Six? You’re in luck. The novel based on the 1970s rock group’s rise to fame and unexpected break-up will be hitting our screens in a limited series later this year. Starring Suki Waterhouse and Sam Claflin, we know we’re in for a ‘70s-themed wild ride.
9. Three Women
Where can I watch it? Showtime in September
Drama lovers, this one’s for you. Three Women is an intimate, haunting portrayal of American female desire, following (yep, you guessed it) three women, who are in the process of trying to radically change their lives. With a star-studded cast of Shailene Woodley, Betty Gilpin, and DeWanda Wise this domestic drama will be a moving tale that we hope has a happy ending.
10. Lessons in Chemistry
Where can I watch it? AppleTV in 2023
Based off of the #1 New York Times Bestseller and Goodreads Choice Awards Winner, Lessons in Chemistry will be hitting our screens in 2023. Following the life of Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant chemist who is forced to become a television chef when she finds herself a young, single mother. Starring Brie Larson, we can’t wait for the release of this colourful period drama.
