TikTok Made Us Do It: 8 Home Organisation Hacks That Simplified Our Lives

These simple ideas will help keep your home neat and tidy.

Is there anything more calming than having an organised home? You know where everything is, it saves you time, and you can go about your day with a sense of ease knowing you don't have to sort through lots of things to find what you need. It sounds great, but often many of us don't have a smooth-running home, nor do we know where to begin.

TikTok is one of the most convenient and digestible ways to consume content, and the social media app is brimming with organisation hacks. Whether it's learning how to organise a cutlery drawer or store your linen, there are millions of videos to help you get your home in order.

We've rounded up eight of our favourite organisation hacks from TikTok that have proven to be useful to us and that we think will help you, too.

1. Food container organisation

You know the story. You open up your food container drawer and start rifling through it to find a matching base and lid. Simply adding a divider for all of your lids to slot into will help separate them from the containers so you can better see what's going on. Keeping the lids on all of your containers will take up a lot more space.

2. Cutlery drawer organisation

Hate the way your cutlery looks messily stacked? Try flipping everything sideways and fitting them all in together. It looks much more organised and appealing.

3. Cleaning cupboard organisation

The idea we love here is the Lazy Susan. Given most of us store our cleaning products under the kitchen sink it can be an annoying area to find things in and having one of these on board will make it much easier to find and reach items. They are perfect for small pantries to help you maximise your space.

4. Cleaning products organisation

Cleaning caddies are a game changer, and perfect for carrying your cleaning products from room to room and to clean more efficiently.

5. Home office organisation

If you work from home, your working space needs to be organised so you can be productive. This dual whiteboard meets container is brilliant for keeping you organised and can be found in Officeworks or on Amazon.

6. Linen storage organisation

We can't look past a good linen storage hack and this trick of folding your bedding and storing it in a pillowcase is one of our favourites.

7. Clothes drawer organisation

If you're lacking space in one of your clothes drawers, stacking them vertically will help save space. The method of vertically folding things is also known as "file folding" and is a favourite for organisation guru Marie Kondo.

8. General storage organisation advice

This one is super simple yet logical. If you're not sure where to put something, try storing it close to where you'll need it. Unsure which drawer to put pots and pans in? Put them as close to the oven as possible. Unsure where to put your linen? Put it in a cupboard close to your bedroom.
