How to Create a Minimalist Bedroom With Maximum Style
Design a calming sleep sanctuary that inspires a soothing slumber.
Minimalist design is admired for its lack of clutter and serene feel. And nowhere could this concept be more important than in our bedrooms. A minimalist bedroom is one that's thoughtful, tidy, functional, and easy on the eyes.
According to interior designer Natalie Walton whose peaceful Byron Bay hideaway we toured in our series The Makers, your bedroom should be a restorative space with simple design. "You want to ensure that it’s free of clutter and allows you to think clearly," she shares with Bed Threads Journal. "Ensure it allows you to relax, unwind and reconnect with what’s most important in your life. For me, that’s keeping the space simple: linen bedding, a simple bedside table, and a good book, always."
Below, we look at how you can create a minimalist-style bedroom with maximum style.
1. Opt for timeless, pared-back patterns
One misconception about minimalist design is that it lacks interest, but this needn't be the case. Incorporating classic patterns like a stripe will still adhere to a calm and minimalist design approach while also adding that extra bit of interest to a space. You could incorporate stripes in your bedding, cushion covers, or lampshade.
