14 New Series to Get Excited About in June

From the third season of 'The Bear' to a 'Presumed Innocent' adaptation starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

We’ve made it to the middle of the year, and what better way to celebrate than with a new season of everyone’s favourite dysfunctional cooking show, The Bear.

If ten new episodes of the Emmy award winning drama isn’t enough, there’s plenty more on this month’s menu to feast your eyes on. From Land of Women starring Eva Longoria, to Part 2 of Bridgerton Season 3, and the highly anticipated legal thriller Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal, here are 14 new series to get excited about in June.

1. The Bear, Season 3

Season 2 left us in quite a spin as Carmy & co worked around the clock to get their new and improved restaurant ready for opening night. And what an opening night it was. More like “No chef!” am I right? But with Carmy now out of the walk-in cooler, Season 3 looks set to delve into the repercussions of that night – including Carmy’s work relationship with Sydney vs his romantic one with Claire, the fate of Marcus’ mother, and whatever mess Cousin cooks up next.

2. Land of Women

Long crowned the diva of drama for her depiction of Gabrielle Solis in Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria always shines on screen. In this series adaptation of Sandra Barneda's bestselling novel of the same name, Longoria stars as Gala, a woman forced to flee NYC with her mother and daughter in tow once her husband’s criminal activities are exposed. The three women attempt to start afresh in a charming Spanish wine town, only to discover that small-town gossip spreads quick.

3. Mayor of Kingstown, Season 3

Born from the same brain that gave us Yellowstone, crime drama Mayor of Kingston is another certified hit by creator Taylor Sheridan. Over two seasons, the McLusky family have maintained their reign over the Michigan prison town, playing mediator between local cops and criminals as well as outsiders. Season 3 sets the stage for an explosive town take over care of the Russian mob, as Mike (Jeremy Renner) faces a new foe amidst a raging drug war across the city.

4. Bridgerton, Season 3: Part 2

After binging our way through Part 1’s first four episodes, Part 2 can’t come soon enough – especially after that carriage cliff hanger! Leaving us on read for a month was cruel, but the final four episodes of Bridgerton’s third season promise to deliver enough drama to excuse the wait. With the focus staying put on Penelope and Colin’s ever evolving relationship, expect the unexpected.

5. House of the Dragon, Season 2

Game of Thrones left big leather boots to fill, but its prequel has proven to possess some pretty big feet. Based on the George R.R. Martin books, House of the Dragon offers a deep dive into the history of the Targaryen family, who ruled many moons before Daenerys first saw the light of day. Over eight episodes, season 2 of this fantasy drama promises plenty of dragon vs dragon action alongside some of its biggest battles yet as it prepares us for the civil war to come.

6. Presumed Innocent

Presumed Innocent first began in 1987 as a best-selling novel by Scott Turow before becoming one of the highest-grossing films of 1990 starring Harrison Ford. Now, over three decades later, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as attorney Rusty Sabich in the latest adaptation of the much-loved legal thriller, alongside a cast that includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, and Renate Reinsve (AKA Julie from The Worst Person in the World).

7. Becoming Karl Lagerfeld

Following in the footsteps of Christian Dior’s biopic series, The New Look, Disney+’s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld lifts the couture curtain on the iconic designer’s road to success, strutting its way through the fashionable streets of Paris, Monaco, and Rome in the 70s. From falling in love with Jacques de Bascher to duelling with Yves Saint Laurent, nothing is off limits in this chic adaptation of Raphaëlle Bacqué’s best-selling book, Kaiser Karl. Best viewed with some bubbly in hand!

8. My Lady Jane

Where can I watch it? Prime

Dubbed a ‘romantasy’, My Lady Jane is revisionist history at its best. Rewriting the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey “the way it should have happened”, series creator Gemma Burgess presents an epic story of true love where Lady Jane saves her own kingdom in lieu of her real-life beheading in 1553. Set in an alt-universe over eight action-packed episodes, this series gives the Nine Days’ Queen a chance to live the life she deserved instead of the cruel existence she endured.

9. Queenie

Where can I watch it? Channel 4

British writer Candice Carty-Williams took the literary world by storm with her 2019 novel, Queenie, and now she’s adapting it for the screen. Over eight episodes, follow the complicated life of Queenie Jenkins (Dionne Brown), a Jamaican-British woman living in south London while straddling two cultures. As comical as it is clever, the series brilliantly explores Queenie’s quest for balance as she seeks acceptance while honouring her roots.

10. Hotel Cocaine

Where can I watch it? MGM+

From the Co-creator of Narcos comes this month’s best drug crime thriller, Hotel Cocaine. The eight-episode series tells the saga of Miami’s most infamous accommodations – The Mutiny Hotel – which harboured a lot more than just holiday makers in the 1970s. Since the hotel’s closure in 1985, many have mused: “If only these walls could talk”, and now finally, they can.

11. Star Wars: The Acolyte

Where can I watch it? Disney+

The Star Wars franchise only continues to grow with another action thriller show being added to their list this month. Set at the end of the High Republic era, approximately 100 years before the events of the main Star Wars films, The Acolyte follows a respected Jedi Master who is brought into conflict with a former Padawan learner after investigating a series of sinister crimes.

12. The Boys, Season 4

Where can I watch it? Prime

Based on the comic book of the same name, American satirical superhero television series The Boys is back mid-June with another action-packed season. With only months left to live we’ll watch as Butcher finds a way to save the world by joining forces with the team he was estranged from. Over eight punchy episodes their fate will be uncovered, revealing if enough work has been put in to save the world before it’s too late.

13. Gangs of Galicia

Where can I watch it? Netflix

Lawyer Ana (Clara Lago) is after a change of scenery after years of experience with one of the best law firms in Madrid. With a motive to start from scratch combined with an intention of settling account with her past, she relocates to the small town of Cambados. Riddled with crime, her presence bothers local drug traffickers, who want her out before any unwanted drama ensues.

14. Worst Roommate Ever, Season 2

Where can I watch it? Netflix

With each episode revealing a different dark truth, the second Season of chilling true crime series Worst Roommate Ever is back.
