From the second season of 'Euphoria' to 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine'.
There's an overwhelming amount of entertainment to consume nowadays, and we're not mad about it. From new TV shows coming out each month to fabulous page-turners to enjoy on your own or with your book club, there's always something to add to your watch list or bookshelf. And one of the easiest ways to know what to get stuck into next is by seeing what other people recommend.
We've rounded up some of the Bed Threads team member's favourite books and TV shows that they have enjoyed this year to offer you some suggestions on what to queue up next.
Genevieve Rosen - Co-Founder
Watching: Euphoria
"Season 2 might have wrapped months ago, but the coming-of-age drama is one of the most popular shows on TV for a reason. If you've missed it, you're in for a compelling, confronting watch as a group of teenagers navigate the complexities of growing up, discovering themselves and each other against the gritty, glittery backdrop of Euphoria High. Beyond the bingeable episodes, you'll love the music and cinematography--and understand just why everyone is utterly obsessed."
Where to watch: Hulu
Watching: Only Murders in the Building
"The Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short-starring comedy was a 2021 hit, but having only discovered it this year, and with a new season in tow, this is at the top of my recommendations list. In this smart, self-referential series, three neighbours bond over their love of true crime... until a murder takes place in their building, and they find themselves embroiled in a case close to home. Which, in this case, is a charming Upper West Side building."

Rachael Thompson - Editor
Watching: Ted Lasso
"I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this series. I wasn't expecting myself to get stuck into a show about football, but it's so lighthearted, intelligently written, and centres around a message of kindness. It's a great show to put on if you're feeling a little bit down."
Where to watch: AppleTV+
Reading: Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-Joo
"Written by Cho Nam-Joo, this novel details the typical woman's experience in South Korea and the epidemic of misogyny. It chronicles the impact that a lifetime of receiving microaggressions can have on someone and represents a negative yet universal experience of being a woman. It's a book that I feel is an important read for everyone."
Charlotte Giles - Customer Service
Reading: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
"The story centres on Eleanor Oliphant, an ordinary woman who leads a mundane life after a traumatic event happened in her childhood. It wonderfully illustrates themes of loneliness and one's struggle with their mental health. It's a great read for anyone who enjoys sad books that touch on psychology, but it's also very heartwarming and funny."
Watching: The Serpent
"It is based on the crimes of serial killer Charles Sobhraj, who murdered young tourists from 1975 to 1976. The series stars Tahar Rahim in the lead role of Sobhraj. The costume design is amazing and it's a very slick thriller."
Where to watch: Netflix
Ellen Badake Dickson - Designer
Watching: Stranger Things
"I know this is everywhere at the moment but I loved the instalment of season 4 so much I went back and rewatched the whole thing. I can struggle to hold attention on shows unless they really have me in a grip, but this one gives me all the feels. From thrilling to lolling, I'm counting down the days until part 2 comes out next month."
Where to watch: Netflix
Watching: Spiderhead
"I sat down looking for something, anything, to watch over the weekend and found this absolute gem. My jaw was hitting the floor pretty much the whole movie. It's a sci-fi thriller about emotion-controlling drug testing. It also helps that it stars both Miles Teller and Chris Hemsworth."
Where to watch: Netflix
Ponti Lekhawichit - Senior Product Developer/Designer
Watching: Pachinko
"If anyone is looking for a historical Korean masterpiece it has to be Pachinko. The creators of the show really did the book justice. The show did an excellent job with the character development that made Pachinko such a beautiful novel. There is breathtaking scenery and many moments where words aren't necessary. The story really is beautiful and it’s one of the best stories to hit tv. It’s so aesthetically pleasing and the cinematography is spectacular."

Melissa King - Marketing Lead
Watching: Mischa + The Wolves
Mischa and the Wolves has all the makings of a juicy Netflix documentary: war, mystery, and people who are not what they seem. This stranger-than-fiction tale centres on Mischa, an author of a Holocaust memoir, whose story of survival raises questions in her adopted Massachusetts community and leads to a darker truth.
Where to watch: Netflix
Watching: Pam & Tommy
"If you’re feeling nostalgic for all things the '90s, watch Pam & Tommy. This miniseries tells the bizarre and heartbreaking story behind their stolen sex tape, which involves a disgruntled contractor, the advent of the internet, and the fall of Pamela Anderson’s rising star. I was surprised by how little I knew about the details of this notorious pop culture moment, and the lasting impact it had on the real people behind it."
Where to watch: Disney+
Lucy O'Donoughue - Social Media Manager
Reading: Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
"It could be too early to make the call as I'm currently only 1/3 of the way through, but whatever I'm saying it... Pachinko is my favourite read of the year so far! While it's quite meaty, Min Jin Lee does such a great job of feeding you a lot of information in a very digestible way! I can't wait to pick it up each night."
Watching: From
"I am rather partial to a bit of a scare! And I absolutely love how more and more TV series are dabbling with horror as it means I can watch an episode or two before flicking over to something lighter. From was such a good watching and nothing like I had ever seen. Kind of Walking Dead meets Hunger Games? Although warning, it ends on a massive cliffhanger which I did not appreciate."
Steph Whittington - Planning Manager
Watching: Line Of Duty
"An edge-of-your-seat British police drama following 3 officers working at Anti-Corruption Unit AC-12. Each series investigates corrupt officers with an overarching storyline throughout the seasons of trying to identify the high-ranked police officer with deep roots in organised crime in London."
Where to watch: Britbox
Watching: Ozark
"I started late to this series so I'm only halfway through Season 2 at the moment but I'm enjoying the cat and mouse nature of when/if/how they will get caught. The show follows the lives of the Byrde Family as Martin Byrde drags his family to the Ozarks in Missouri where he has to launder money to escape death from his drug lord boss."
Where to watch: Netflix
Reading: Heartsick by Jessie Stephens
"I'm only halfway through, but I'm enjoying this book about the highs and lows of love and heartbreak. It weaves three separate true stories together."
Meg Harris - PR Manager
Reading: American Dirt by Jeanine Cummin
"Written by Jeanine Cummin, American Dirt is about a mother and her young son’s journey, leaving their lives in Mexico behind as they attempt to escape a dangerous cartel across the US border. It’s emotional, thought-provoking and heartbreaking."
Karina Camenzind - E-commerce Coordinator
Watching: Everything I Know About Love
I’m a huge fan of Dolly Alderton’s book, ‘Everything I Know About Love’ and was obviously very excited to watch it on the small screen. Based on Alderton’s 2018 memoir, the seven-part TV series follows the adventures of Molly and Birdy, two best friends living in London and encapsulates all the highs and lows of love, friendship and life in your 20s.
Bella Clinton - Video Producer
Watching: WeCrashed
"The story, the drama, the characters; I could not love WeCrashed anymore if I tried!!! Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway - need I say more - are incredible in this series based on the real-life story of the WeWork start-up. Jared Leto plays founder Adam Neumann a charismatic and idealistic entrepreneur who grew WeWork from a single co-working space to a billion dollar, global brand. This series really shows how courage, creativity and the won’t-take-no-for-an-answer mentality can really get you to the top (oh and a few billion-dollar investors that back your idea also helps). I would recommend this series to everyone but if you are entrepreneurial and interested in the hustle/start-up culture then you’ll particularly love this!"

Reading - Atomic Habits
"I’m sure everyone has heard about this book from author James Clear. It is an interesting and enlightening look into the way in which we create habits, both good and bad. It’s not a so-good-i-can’t-put-it-down but I can definitely see why this book is a best seller. It is a great insight into the way in which our brain is wired to develop habits. For me, the most interesting part of this book was the way in which Clear reframes ‘goals’ and ‘goal setting’ for systems and processes. I recommend this book for anyone who is goal-orientated or wanting to implement good habits or kick bad ones."
